The meeting was called to order by Jeanmarie Kane, KD9UGB, at 10:10 AM.

    o JC cooper – Meteorologist
o Jeff Hammer – Outdoor radio setup
o Ken Bandy – DX Blast Software
o Andrew Chiropractor – How to lift and sit properly.
  • To increase the number of Net Control Operators, training sessions will be taught. Dwight Kellams, N9DEK, discussed net control activities and needs more Net Control Operators.
  • The Trivia question for today was presented.
o Question: “What do you call a legally licensed operator that does not follow the rules.”
    ▪ Answer: Lid
    ▪ John Goodly, W9KD, won the contest.
  • Questions presented to the Club’s Change Agents were presented to Shane Brooker, K9SAB.
o Does RACES have to take charge of Field Day?
    ▪ Shane stated that planning needs to be done in advance. It takes at least a year to obtain a Field Day site in Hamilton County. Delays in deciding on a location make it very difficult to obtain a space.
    ▪ He stated that whatever equipment is required from EMA, CIARA should make an official request and send it to Joe March, KJ9M.
    ▪ If the event is only a CIARA event, and a tent is required; it should be requested to be a non-logo tent that does not state EMA.
    ▪ It was felt that EMA should be given a lot of value so that they are recognized for all the equipment that the county has purchased.

    ▪ When the Club requests Monica Peterson, N9MRP, to reserve us a site for an event, the official request comes from EMA and must comply with EMA regulations. If EMA equipment is brought out for the event, a RACES representative must be present. Official EMA events will cover insurance for RACES members at that event.
    ▪ EMA has supported the club with a great deal of hardware that belongs to Hamilton County. Shane Booker, K9SAB, is happy to do this for the club.
    o Who owns the repeater?
    ▪ Hamilton County owns the repeaters, antennas, cabling, tower locations, etc.
    ▪ N9EOC is owned by the club and manages the call sign. The club has authorized EMA to use this call sign for various events.
    ▪ The club’s trustee holds the repeater license.
  • It was suggested that we get out in the field more often.
  • The club sent out a get-well card to Joe March, KJ9M. Another card was sent out to Arnol Cook, N9ACC who has been with the club for many years and has moved out of state.
  • Tony Ashpaugh, W0ALA, and John Goodly, W9KD, are setting up a club library that contains books and radios for the club’s use. The idea is that a club member may check out the book or radio from the owner, and use it for a short period of time. Afterward return it to the owner. The equipment or books will be retained by the owner. These items will need to be cataloged and a request was made for someone to help setup up the mechanism. Joe, KD9HYG stepped up yo help with a Google document. Please send an email to John Gooldy, W9EKD@gmail.com, if you would like to borrow an item. Furthermore, if you have any items that you would like to share, please send him an email.
  • It was suggested that we have a committee for setting up Field Day events. This will be further discussed on Sunday Net. Currently, we can discuss what we need to obtain from EMA with Steve Skinner, AC9AM, until Joe March recovers. Steve is covering for Joe until he returns as our representative to EMA.
  • It was suggested to have a document that states the difference between the RACES and Club members for new folks coming into the club. Shane Booker stated that he has a document that helps with this concern.
  • It was suggested that the Board send out a notice before the Club meetings stating the meeting agenda.
  • Summary of the Winter Field Day – Osprey Pointe
    Central Indiana Amateur Radio Association
    (CIARA)
o The club was able to borrow some of the go-kits from EMA. However, a lot of personal equipment was brought into the event.
o The club suggested that we go back to Osprey Pointe next year.
o Monica Richardson was asked to reserve this for next year as an overnight event.
o The walking path outside of the building had walkers pass by. We need to be sure that we do not interfere with this path and protect any wires going over the path.
o If the club stays or runs the event overnight, a request for Police surveillance be requested.
o Perhaps we could have an official RACES event as part of the Field Day event.
  • Those that brought Go-Kits to the Winter Field Day showed off their equipment.
  • The meeting was adjourned around 12:30 PM.
