The meeting was called to order by Jeanmarie Kane, KD9UGB, at 10:06 AM. Jeanmarie was elected as Vice President at the last meeting. Scott Messick, W9SDM, was elected as President. Subsequently, he resigned, which opened the Presidency. The Constitution allowed for the promotion of the Vice President to President.

  • The Board selected Dwight Kellams, N9DEK, as the new Vice President of the club.
  • Jeanmarie started a Bring Single Dollar Bills to the meeting event to bolster the Club’s treasury. The game asks those who want to participate to add their name and at least $1 to the bucket. A winner will be selected, and the pot will be split between the winner and the Club.
  • The club approved the Minutes from the last meeting.
  • Jeanmarie presented a discussion of the Club’s values for 2023. Jeanmarie has stated that she is open to any ideas or concerns about the Club.
  • The following members volunteered to be Change Agents for the club. These folks have offered to help with any Club issues that might come up in the future.

  • Winter Field Day
    o The location of Winter Field Day on January 28th
     Osprey Pavilion at Morris Reservoir location
     19777 Morse Park Lane
     Noblesville, IN 46062
    o This is a Club event and not an EMA event.
    o Our event will run between 8:00AM to 4:00 PM. There will be several hours for points if you are interested.
    o The event will be indoors with antennas outside.
    o Our planning has been very short.
    o Bring your own lunch.

    o Pizza Party
     At 4:00 PM when the event finishes, the Club will purchase pizza and bring it to the Pavilion. The Club approved up to $150 for the pizza. Bring your own non-alcoholic beverages.
    o It was requested that you bring in a favorite radio book for this event. These books will be placed on a table so that others can view them at the event.
    o If you would like to sell Ham Radio items, please bring them to the event and they will be put on the table for sale.
    o The County will not allow anything to be inserted into the ground. This includes tent stakes and ground rods.
    o EMA was requested to bring in the following:
     Wire extension kit with the plug adapters
     Caution Tape
     HF To-Go Kits
     4 Computers
     Antenna Analyzer
    o There is a Signup-Genus for this event.
    o It was suggested that Club obtain a router like the Linksys router. A router is used to connect all the computers so that logging can be automated. Dallas Milem, KD6TJH, will bring in a router.
    o We will be using the club call sign – N9EOC
    o Bring in some towels to block off the window leaks where the antenna cables pass the windows.
    o If you have a homemade Yagi, bring it to Winter Field Day, and see how it works on satellite tracking.
  • The Club would like to thank RACES for the setup on the Summer Field Day event. This has been appreciated, and it has been very helpful to have RACES organize this event.
  • Paul Beihold, KA9SDQ, presented the Treasurer’s report.

  • Ron Sans will set up concepts on how to use the oscilloscope. Dane Dillon, KD9CEH, said he will help with this idea. Ron suggested that a device be created to monitor the power lines from the generators for noise. This would allow a method to connect the oscilloscope to the power lines. Dane will investigate the purchase of the connectors needed to monitor the generator power.
  • There is a good YouTube channel to help with Amateur Radio technical questions.

  • It was suggested that the Club set up a Train Session for licensing with a VEC exam after the event. A few years ago, the club has done this several times.
  • It was suggested that we look investigate getting the FCC data for the amateur radio operators in the county and send them a postcard about the club activities. Dane and Andrew Wilson, N9QML, will investigate the cost of this option.
  • Jeanmarie has come up with several guest speakers for this year:
    o JC Cooper – Meteorologist
    o Jeff Hammer – Does outdoor radio setups all over. Expert in SWR matching.
    o Ken Bandy – DX Blast Software – All types of programs for DXing,
    o Chiropractor –To tell us how to lift and sit properly. Jeanmarie has already got someone to do this for the Club.
  • Trivia Game
    o There will be several questions and only 1 prize for the winner per meeting.
     Jeanmarie has personally paid for the prizes for this year.
    o Next meeting will be bring in a radio hat meeting.
  • Dollar Bill Game
    o Amanda Wanlass, KD9QEE, won the prize.
    o The game produced $16 for the Club.
    o The club approved that the money brought in from this game should be tracked as a single line item.
  • 501(c) Organization Tax Exempt Status
    o The club previously has obtained this status from the State. However, it has long expired.
    o It was suggested that the Club reinstate this Tax Exemption status.

  • Our website domain name had to be paid for and we are in the process of updating transfer of ownership. This fee is monthly. Paul has let us use his credit card for this expense. He will reimburse himself for these expenses.
  • John Gooldy, W9KD has officially been approved as the trustee for the club callsign.
  • Dwight will be documenting processes for board operations. The Constitution and By-Laws need to be updated
